ANZAC biscuits

Food is essential, but it's more than just sustenance. It's a bridge to our personal history and family connections. It's unfortunate that we've been conditioned to feel shame or guilt when embracing our heritage and history through food.

One such food with history is the ANZAC biscuit. Its history goes way back to World War 1, and for me it reminds me of the biscuits my grandma made when I was a kid. It also has a meaning for Fred Nutrition, not only with my grandma’s baking but also because my Grandad “Fred” served in the Russian convoys protecting the food supplies to the U.K.

So, this ANZAC day here is my grandma’s ANZAC recipe for you to enjoy. A single food on its own should not be considered unhealthy, it is the combination of foods across a day, week and longer which can be considered unhealthy causing weight gain and health problems.
